Alex Rider

Obviously, this post is dedicated to the Alex Rider fandom. I love the book series, even though I didn't quite read the last book - more like skimmed it - due to the lack of time and I was at the bookstore on a time crunch. Even so, this is one of my favorites and I'm still currently compiling. I did notice, so far, that a number of the fics have the same reoccuring theme and since a good number of them are WIP, there are no concrete pairings as of yet.

Everyone in Alex's school has thought him a bit wimpy, ever since his uncle died, and he started spending more and more time off school... with no good excuse. How will they react when they find out just how wrong they were?

Notes: This is actually one of the first (if not the first) fic that I read from this fandom. It's completed at 13 chapters (44,686 words).

Aged 16, things have gone very badly for Alex Rider. And, the way he sees it, there's only one way to set things right.

Rating: PG-13
Notes: This is a dark-themed fic and does deal with the theme of suicide in an Alex who's tired of everything. I'm not that surprised that he may turn out like this, but for those who are turned off by this, it's only prominent in the beginning. It's still a WIP (10 chapters; 25,914 words).

Scorpia doesn’t take well to M16’s threats and attacks everyone Alex knows, Including the K Unit. The K Unit will have to put aside any grudges they have to keep Alex alive. But keeping him alive will be harder then they think. After Snakehead.

Notes: It's a nice friendship/bonding fic between Alex and K-unit with a bit of adventure (of course) thrown in. It's still a WIP and is at 15 chapters and 58,162 words.

MI6 has been out of Alex's life for two years now, leaving him free to get on with his life. Suddenly, he's being followed, people start dying, and worst of all, he's in it alone.

Notes: This one is an interesting one and Alex ends up getting sucked back to his old life again. It's still a new fic with only 5 chapters (14,884 words) but I like the way it's portrayed and I want to know more. I can totally see a non-slash romance coming out of it, but we'll see.

Faint Hearted by Scorpia710
Wolf clenched his fists as a familiar face appeared on the screen. “Cub,” Fox whispered as he and the other three men stared at the next target and youngest member of the K Unit. Mix in everyone’s favorite assassin and what do you get?

Rating: PG-13
Notes: This is dark, violent, and may just possibly be rather gory/bloody in the future. It's WIP and it's a what if situation if the entire K-unit (including Cub) as well as Yassen Gregorovitch were bunched together in a situation parallel to those under experimentation under Hitler's reign. I've actually taken a great liking to it and I believe that it has a lot of potential. It's fairly short (11 chapters; 32,581 words) but it keeps you on your seat.

Hell is Other People by amitai
After a series of attacks, Alex's entire class is sent to be trained at the SAS training camp, to give them a degree of selfsufficiency to help them defend themselves. Unfortunately for Alex, he has to go with them... and not get noticed as 'different'.

Notes: This is possibly the best Alex-and-his-class-goes-to-SAS-training fic that I've come across so far. Unfortunately, it's WIP (9 chapters; 48,995 words).

When Jack has to go back to Chicago to be with her parents, MI6, as always, get involved with Alex's life, and arrange a guardian for him to stay with. Alex plus unknown guardian equals... oh dear.

Notes: This is one of my favorites in this fandom. It's a WIP but still long enough to keep me content for a good amount of time (17 chapters; 79,290 words). The character development is nice and it isn't rushed nor forced and it's original even though the basic plot (Alex being looked after by Wolf) is a repeated one in the fandom.

Malagosto by Nyxelestia
It started out as marking the changes on his father’s reports on the Scorpia’s training facility, as a ‘favor’ to MI6. But with the discovery of John’s diary, Alex learns more about his dad than he ever dreamed of...and almost more than he ever wanted to.

Notes: This is a relatively new fic (8 chapters; 26,717 words) and is still developing. Even so - you've got to admit the summary is pretty interesting, right? Well, this also seems to be those fics where Alex will eventually pick which side to place his loyalties in. I'm still waiting for more. ^_^

Operation Protect Cub by Ashadowofwings
AU, after Scorpia. Since the sniper failed, Scorpia has vowed to kill Alex before three weeks is up, and it's up to a certain SAS team to stop them....

Rating: PG-13
Notes: Honestly, the title made me apprehensive at the beginning, but the writing's pretty good and fairly serious when need be. This has a smattering of angst, drama, and friendly bonding. It's still a WIP (10 chapters; 27,259 words).

Alex Rider wants desperately to be normal. But when his class witnesses something they shouldn't, he has to deal with the consequences as well as prepare for a major storm that's brewing.

Notes: WIP (13 chapters); well written and good story plot and it keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Alex only ever wanted a normal life, but when terrorists attack his school, he finds himself mixed up in a terrible plot. Against his will, Alex is thrust back into a world of violence and danger.

Notes: This is another one of those my-secret-life-and-my-school-life-collides type of fics - but it doesn't dominate. There's some Alex-Yassen interaction and cooperation and I'll leave it at that. It's still a WIP (14 chapters; 17,362 words).
